born 1979 in istanbul. she finished marmara collage as a art teacher. During my childhood I used to embrace drawing picture of bus and people who looks round from the bus with a smile. Especially the bus driver was very important so he must have surely a cap and I should not have forgotten the steering wheel. In addition, headlights and the roads that we could see by the triangular spotlights…I bought a camera and began to spend hours in Eminönü and Kadıköy to taking photograph in my every spare day. Each time I was spending one or two hours between bus stops. Those places were like a forest, people looked like trees. They dropped their branches over bus stops and on the seats in their natural states… The single ones was colored green, the people in couples or groups were in blue. While recording their pictures my questions were on one hand somehow getting lesser on the other hand becoming more.

Nick studied Illustration at SVA in New York City, graduated in 2008, and now works as a freelance illustrator. His work, much like his ancestry, is a mixture of eastern and western influences. His images are characterized by confident line work, imaginative subject matter, and careful color selection, some of which draws on the art and culture he was exposed to by his Norwegian and Japanese background. Nick's visual messages and inspiration flow from a constant assimilation of aesthetic elements from internet image hubs such as tumblr and ffffound, making his visual interpretations a melding of personal and collective experiences.

Brett Amory was born in 1975 in Chesapeake, Virginia. He lived in San Francisco for 15 years before relocating to Oakland in 2009 where he is currently based. His work has been shown in Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, New York, and San Jose and continues to receive acclaim. Amory began the Waiting series in 2001 with paintings based on photographs the artist has taken of ordinary city architecture and random people who he saw daily but never spoke to. He feels especially drawn to individuals who look lost, lonely or awkward—those who don’t appear to fit in socially.

An active graffiti writer from an early age, Petker painted street art through college. While pursuing a degree in History, his interest in the arts and Art History expanded beyond graffiti. After studying abroad in Florence, Italy during college, he became engrossed in figurative and abstract painting and committed himself to making art his career. He has exhibited in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Paris, and the U.K. He lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.

Tim Doyle is an illustrator and print-maker working out of Austin, Texas.  Growing up in the suburban sprawl of the Dallas area, he turned inward and sullen, only finding  joy in comic-books and television and video games. Moving to Austin, Texas in 1999 to fulfill a life-long dream of not living in Dallas, Doyle begun painting and showing in galleries in 2001.  He self-published a diary zine, ‘Amazing Adult Fantasy’ from 2001-2003.  Doyle has held many nerd-friendly jobs, including running a small chain of comic-book stores, as well as designing  t-shirts and art-directing the poster series for the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

Conrad Roset (1984) is a freelance illustrator  from Barcelona, Spain. He currently works on a range of projects for advertisement agencies, design studios, magazines, fashion brands and editorials. Some of the most important clients whom Conrad has work for are: Adidas, Coca Cola, F.C. Barcelona, Mango, Bwin, Skoda or Zara within others. He also works as a professor in an Illustration Master in BAU School in Barcelona. In a more personal level he has done some exhibitions in a different cities from around the world like London, Oporto, San Francisco, Madrid and Barcelona. In the present moment Norma Editorial is preparing a book about his work.

Although currently living in Montreal, Véronique Meignaud was born in France in 1984. After two years of training in illustration and design at the Ecole Emile Cohl in Lyon, she has worked for a number of gaming studios including: Electronic Arts, Etranges Libellules, and Darkworks. She has also worked in the fashion industry for Nike and Marc Eko. Her series of playing card illustrations for Magic: The Gathering for Wizards of the Coast has brought her international acclaim.

Ana Benaroya is an illustrator, typographer, and designer; but above all, a decent human being. This is quite possibly her proudest accomplishment to date. When not drawing, screen-printing, or Photoshop-ing, Ana can be found consuming large amounts of hot sauce, usually along with a turkey sandwich of sorts. Her work has been honored by American Illustration, The Society of Illustrators, and the PRINT Regional Design Annual. She has worked with clients such as The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Nickelodeon Magazine, WILCO, Marc Ecko, Newsweek, Time Out New York, Computer Arts Project, Scholz & Friends...

Swain's stylistic graphics are equally as cinematic as his moody Methodblack soundtracks. With a flair for the dramatic his images are like windows on other worlds, distant yet familiar. Dark clouds, apocalyptic scenes and a knack for atmosphere result in scenes that almost rise off the page. Musically his sounds mirror their visual counterparts with more of that smoke filled charm.

For his debut exhibition at Blain|Southern Berlin, Gift gegen Zeit (Poison Against Time), German artist Jonas Burgert will unveil a series of new paintings, some monumental in scale, alongside sculptural works. Burgert’s paintings suggest a space in which time is suspended, once removed from our perception of the everyday. It is within this paradigm that the struggle for self-knowledge occurs; human beings are depicted as unique, contorted creatures in the midst of an inquiry into their own existence. They are both familiar and fantastical, creating an environment which is in flux, shifting and changeable.

I am influenced by vintage American illustration from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s and frequently absorb materials I see in those advertisements into my own implied narratives. I also love Flemish painting of the 1400’s to the 1600’s as well as Indian street graphics and vintage propaganda posters from China. From these sources I select a charged gesture, a meaningful glance or particularly choice hair-do or cute jumpsuit and absorb it into some improvised scenerio that grows organically out of that first seminal piece. I am not really interested in any one explanation for any of the art I make. Rather, I am interested in people creating their own relationship with each piece, creating their own stories and using the images as a stage for their own imaginations to play.

The Neurotitan Gallery is the heart of the cultural Association Schwarzenberg e.V ., who promotes unconventional art by providing a bright and beautiful presentation rooms in one of the most-frequented quarters of the city. The gallery is created as a testing ground for young and / or unknown artists and gives them the opportunity to present their work to the public. She is a node of a multinational network of artists who move between subculture and avant-garde, but are generally outside the officially art world.

Doing „the bare project“ is my heartfelt wish. My first idea was to just to take some female nude photography, cause I love taking pictures of woman. And I love portraits in landscapes! Daylight! But I wanted to be different from what I usually do. So I setup a studio situation in the middle of a forest.

The Weird is a crew of artists spread all over Germany and Austria, founded in 2011. The ten members come from a graffiti background and focus on high quality character design in unique recognizable styles. They work as artists, graphic designers, illustrators and lecturers. Each one a serious heavyweight styler, they prefer a maverick illustrative way of designing, no matter if the (art)work is private or a commissioned.

Rone’s posters are some of the most iconic in Australia, hiding under overpasses throughout Melbourne. He is renowned for the stylised images of girls’ faces – it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that he has had more posters in Melbourne’s streets than any other artist in the city’s history. Rone is one of the original members of Everfresh Studios where he still works daily. His ‘girls’ come with him as he travels and now appear on the streets of Los Angeles, New York, Miami, London, Toyko, Barcelona and many more.

TIME... This work explores the intersection between past and present, by integrating historical photographs into a daily record of a site specific location. A painting evolves over time through a series of layers that both merge with and cover up previous observations. By departing from the static image of the traditional landscape, Reynolds explores the boundaries between light, space, solid form, and memory- conveying the passage of time and a sense of place. The painting acts as a reflection on the nature of our shared existence, individual perceptions and collective impressions.

Ellen Rogers is an all-analogue fashion photographer. Through her work, Rogers creates timeless dream worlds where temptresses seduce and lure you into unknown, dark lands. A firm believer in the art of analogue photography, Rogers does not utilize any digital equipment or computer based manipulation (other than scanning the end result) and has developed most techniques through experimentation with traditional darkroom processes.

Misha Gordin was born in March of 1946 in Riga, capital of Latvia then part of USSR. He was raised in a family successfully adapted to the soviet economy and from early age he could witness the struggles of ordinary people who survived the brutal Second World War. After graduating from aviation collage he joined the Riga Motion Studio’s special effect department. During this period, he made his first foray into photography, producing portrait and documentary photography. He found these forms of expression disappointing, abandoning them and taking interest in Soviet Non-Conformist literature and film.

Andrew Salgado (b. 1982, Canada) holds an MFA from London’s Chelsea College of Art (2009) and a BFA from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada (2005). He has exhibited in London, Berlin, Oslo, Sydney, Vancouver, Toronto, Merida (Venezuela), Niamey (Niger), Chiang Mai (Thailand), and Busan (Korea, forthcoming 2012). He was awarded Courvoisier’s Future 500 (2010), shortlisted for Art of Giving at London’s Saatchi Gallery (2010), and will be featured in the forthcoming Channel 4 (UK) documentary The Science of Art alongside Anish Kapoor and Bridget Riley (2011). He lives and works in London, UK.

Currently I live and work in Orlando, Florida. By day I work as an art director at an advertising agency, and freelance as an illustrator/designer during off hours. I also occasionally enjoy getting my work up on the street. In the future I would like to be able to focus on illustration and make a living solely on my own work. Possibly avoid the advertising industry altogether.

Claire Rosen is an american photographer and video artist blending a fine art sensibility with commercial work to create whimsical imagery inspired by fairy tales, fables, and other children's stories. Her fashion, fine art and advertising work touch on the bizarre and unusual with the themes of vintage circus, burlesque, magic, curiosities and natural science interwoven throughout the images. Rosen is drawn both to beauty and darkness as it exists in life, and her images explore this duality.

The Exhibition is an investigation of parapsychology, ideology and crisis, through drawings, objects and texts.

Founded in 2009 by Elodie Bellanger & Guillaume Trotin, West Berlin Gallery specializes in street art & graffiti. Being located at the former border between Eastern and Western Berlin, the gallery takes its name from its location. The birth of graffiti & street art in Berlin also occurred in Western Berlin in the late 1970s, which was another inspiration behind the gallery’s name.

There is a kind of desperation deep inside the artist Glen Moust's images. On the surface are "just" fine tuned collages of words, newspapers, objects, pictures, painting. They are the faded, dull side, with the subdued white pigmented colors, and closes in on itself with the slightly blurred word pieces and objects. They hide in the layers of the unknown image parts of old newspapers and papers on fragments of words and concepts. They are built up of thick layers of paint in which the objects sticking, painting almost have overcome the artefacts, blurring them, but which also had its scratches and bumps. Times have been tough on these works. They are images of wear of used contexts of the past. Just not something that can provoke an exhibition. But make no mistake, this is not for the faint hearted!

Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Candice has been exhibiting her work since 2007 when she was offered her first show at Electrik Sheep in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her work has since appeared in shows in New York, LA and London.

Jamie Johnson recently graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee and is now an Edinburgh based artist. Through his use of drawing, collage and printmaking techniques, he creates intricate and atmospheric imagery of a surreal and layered nature. His recent projects explore idiosyncratic features extracted from his surroundings, everyday narratives within a particular landscape. The subjects of his work and the intricate, temporary shacks they inhabit exist within an ethereal utopian landscape. Initial ideas are realised through experimentation with different mediums, whilst drawing on memory, folklore and imagination to reinterpret and reassemble undisclosed historical fragments into a piece of work.

Asbjørn Skou / Armsrock is a Danish visual artist based in Copenhagen. He works primarily with drawing, interventions in public space and site- and time-specific installations. His work is constructed as visual investigations of the sociohistorical constructions, perimeters and possibilities of society. He continuously restates how these constructions are conditioned by relations of power and wonder, and he creates narrative works reflecting upon and questioning these relations.

I create visual imagery to articulate my thoughts about the beauty, contradictions and emotion of the act of living. My work revolves around the interior worlds we create in our minds and the tensions that arise when confronted to our realities. The illusion of control in a world much governed by randomness and the elusive nature of emotions are also recurring ideas in my work.

My work changes from place to place. I studied the science of culture. With a miner's work ethic, I long to delve deeper and deeper into my investigations. My art was a development that took me away from industrial, close-minded Silesia, Poland. It has always sought to bring color and life, energy, and surprise to the living space. My goal is to produce new work and share it with the public. I intend to take advantage of living in NYC with various neighborhoods and, with my actions, create a feedback to the economic and social reality in our community.

'I feel more affinity to anarchy and contradiction than to reason and sense. For that hundredth of a second, the protagonists in my photographs are my comrades-in-arms.' 'Eiterquellen' is an ongoing project about Viennese Wurstel Diners and the little different Viennese fast-food culture. Most of the time these diners are isolated islands of food supply in an ancient surrounding with a dash of cultural heritage. Isolated both in the sense of appearance as well as in the sense of resisting against global operating fast-food chains. But the 'improper' and modern their architecture may appear, the much heritage there is behind the scenes. Viennese wurstel diners have been introduced during the Austro-Hungarian "K.u.K." Monarchy around 1870 to provide a safe income for wounded war veterans. Since then they became an essential part of the urban culture not by only supplying snacks but also being a meeting spot of the distinctive Viennese working class and the high society, too.

I was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in a poor part of the city and moved to London when I was about 8 years old so most of my later education was there. I went to an unsuitable school and did not do well at my lessons spending as much time as I could in the art room. I would have been much better off if I had been apprenticed to an artist as in the old days. I was very good at athletics (400 metres) so I did not have trouble at the school because the emphasis there was on sports. After I left St Martin’s School of Art in 1969 I was a teacher in art schools in various parts of the UK, ending up in Cardiff, a city I love.

Marco Reichert (born in 1979), living and working in Berlin, explores two main areas in his recent work; on the one hand, he searches the maze of images in the surrounding world for fruitful shapes, surfaces and objects. On the other hand he toys between figuration and abstraction, blurring the boundary between the two. The combination of these ways of seeing, has uncovered a new language, specific to the artist.

Serge Gay Jr. is a Grammy nominated illustrator / fine artist / graphic designer currently based out of San Francisco, California. The story of Serge Gay Jr. began with his birth in Port-au Price, Haiti and developed during his years in the U.S. His art infuses inspiration born from living in cities from coast to coast. Influence in his work can be found from the culture of his homeland, New York, Miami and Detroit. Currently the story continues to evolve from the west coast of the United States. He is the youngest of three boys and a third generation artist. Art is in his blood and he has felt this talent as long as he can remember.

Celebrated Artist/Director Brian M. Viveros is internationally embraced for his erotic paintings of doe-eyed beauties with Marlboros dangling seductively from their lips and has also recently been utilizing the medium of film to capture the dark and evocative debris that radiates from his mind. His paintings are a drunken mix of oil, airbrush, acrylic, and ink. In his work Viveros shines a light on his own inner world and society at large and aims to captivate even the most jaded eyes.

My new work is an investigation of mythology and narrative. I am illustrating and illuminating scenes from an allegorical world populated by mutilated boy scouts and paramilitary werewolves. I am very interested in how we use stories to define ourselves, how we use mythologies, such as national stories, to create world views. Allegory in art have always had really strong connections from Hogarth to Swift. Defining ourselves has always been the purpose of art, but this definition is not truth, truth is unknowable.

I continuously look to language, landscape, and other visual message systems to inform my paintings. My process adapts from immediate experience and the ephemeral qualities of time, light, and movement, in which my paintings stand-in as visual explanations of my surroundings, allowing a freedom and uncertainty to exist as the work develops. In each work, a struggle ensues between the insecurity or the temporal nature of existence, and the story-telling ability of paint on canvas.

ckirk is an urban contemporary painter concentrating on figurative art. For more than a decade, he rambled across the country consuming legendary amounts of booze, drugs, sex, misadventure, and jail food. In 2005 he sobered up, settled down, married and turned his insatiable appetite toward becoming a successful artist. After stampeding the Dallas art scene, kirk's art quickly became a sought after commodity by local collectors, visitors, and those just passing through.

Katie Scott draws influences from traditional medical and botanical illustration, both in aesthetic and subject matter. Her work plays with the ideas of scientific uncertainty and speculation, fabricating the inner and outer workings of the world. Her illustrations depict a familiar yet fantasy vision of plants, humans and minerals.

Matthew the horse is an illustrator, poet, educator and idiot. He works with calligraphic pens, water colours, a computer and his hands. He is interested in language, shapes, flavours, rude jokes, lines, colours, silliness, comics and feelings. His image making is dictated by confident line work that aims to be both graphic and naive. He contributes regularly to The Guardian, as well as working for clients including Converse and The Economist. Matthew's work has a playful approach, he is very serious about not being very serious.

Alex Beck (born 1990 in Arlington, VA) is an illustrator living in Sarasota, FL. He enjoys painting traditionally and loves to tell stories. As a freelance artist, Alex has worked for clients such as Myachi Entertainment and bestselling author Malcolm Gladwell.

I´m a freelance communication designer with focus on print and editorial design. Especially the exposure with typography in relation to the content is interesting to me, just as well as regarding books as objects. Besides I develop concepts and designs for different website projects. At the moment I´m working on my diploma, which focuses on typography and form in political posters, and I´m developing a guidance system for a university.

Lucy Carr-Ellison’s images frame the provocative lure a youthful spirit has to offer with emphasis on fashion and feeling.
