NEONCHOCOLATE / OFF THE BEATEN TRACKS 03.12.-15.12.2011
28 November 2011

The exhibition “...off the beaten tracks” shows photographs by Sven Marquardt, Peter Franck, Matthias Gephart and Sebastian Klug. The artists are presenting a world apart from ever-present glossy-photography.

“The longer you watch Sven Marquardts photographs, the better you will understand that every pose is more than just pose. Man is not hiding behind the assigning poses and requisites. Men are brought to light. Models are opening up to the photographer is the experience that makes Sven Marquardts photographs such a sensation.” (Literaturmarkt.info, 21.Juni 2010)

Works of the illustrated book “Zukünftig vergangen” will be featured.

At first sight the photographs of Peter Franck seem to be snapshots of eighties pornos. Uncommon arrangements and the cool, aloof atmosphere of his photographs arouse an impression of artificialty.

Matthias Gepharts pictures reflect a very special eye, which he adopted as being a part of the graffiti-scene. They show private impressions from parallel worlds: inspiring spots he is working at or he is modifying with painterly interventions, inspiring friends and random encounters. The dense atmosphere of his photographs is directly traceable to Matthias Gepharts illustrating style.

As if shot in passing by, the cellphone-photographs of Sebastian Klug  are showing a journey through Berlin at night. The pixelated aesthetic, strong image noise and extreme contrasts of colour blurs places and people. The viewer gets soaked into the scenery.
